The company will borrow more money
If the only thing holding this company's stock up is their buybacks, good luck. Without the buybacks, it free falls on poor fundamentals. Buybacks only work for a short period of time, then even the insiders see the writing on the wall and begin to face reality. Of course by that time, it's too late.
