Home foreclosure rates in Arizona and around the country remain well above levels from last year, but some progress was made in November.
According to RealtyTrac's latest U.S. Foreclosure Market Report, foreclosures were down 10 percent nationally from October to November. Still, nearly 202,000 default notices, auction sale notices and bank repossessions were reported during the month. That's up 68 percent from November of 2006.
The national foreclosure rate for November was one foreclosure filing for every 617 households. Arizona had the eighth highest foreclosure rate in the country, at one out of every 441 homes. Overall, there were nearly 5,800 Arizona filings during the month.
Nevada registered the nation's top state foreclosure rate for the 11th straight month. The state had one foreclosure filing for every 152 households. Other states ranking among the nation's 10 highest were Colorado, California, Michigan, Georgia, Indiana and Illinois.
