New rating: Market outperform
Like DepoMed, JMP's other recommendation last week is a company centered in the life sciences space. Like DepoMed, EXACT Sciences is now rated a "market outperform" by the analyst. But there the similarities end.
Where DepoMed is currently profitable and sells for a low price-to-sales ratio, EXACT Sciences isn't... and doesn't. In fact, this specialist in colorectal cancer screening costs something on the order of 90 times sales. While it's got a product undergoing phase 3 testing for the FDA right now, there's no guarantee that will pan out, or produce the significant revenue investors may expect. What's more, going from product to market... to profit... may take longer than anyone thinks. At last report, EXACT Sciences had $75 million in the bank -- enough cash to keep its doors open for three years at the current $25 million cash-burn rate. Yet last month, EXACT felt the need to raise $27 million more through a follow-on stock offering.
I won't say JMP is wrong to recommend it, but this latest development doesn't EXACT-ly sound encouraging.
I like the last question and can probably answer it. It's this MB's "culture" as defined by the early "blowhards" who got in under 2.00.(people like Mstevens and Farrker) They defined the quality of discourse here early on and their mentality remains to this day. It's sophomoric at best. If you like, you can go to Investorshub or Silicon Investor but the posts are not frequent. Not sure about Raging Bull, does that one still exist?
my RPC buy was a blunder, but i only nibbled . . . my SQNM is down .30, post dilution, with a high SI and sales starting to roll . . . i'm not worried . . . you left out EK, lol . . . stuck at .90 . . .
i rode EXAS from 2.45 to 8.25, and traded it 3x that . . . i think it capped at 9-10 until the big day, or closer to it . . .
truth is truth, i have nothing to hide . . . i did manage to keep one house on some acreage in the san diego desert . . . it was my "just in case" house . . . i never expected to be living here, but at least this one's paid for . . .
as a trader i consistently lost about 3-5% a year, while AMTD made more than my losses, for like 10 years running . . . my non-ability as a trader was very consistent, lol . . .
<Hey how do you live off the losers?>
lol, i don't . . . my handle is back from my RE flipping days . . . when i had my "Atop The Mountain" house, or ATM house for short . . .
