    When is this going to run dry?

    Maybe the heat of the earth creates an abiotic effect that produces more. As we siphon off the hydrocarbons it releases pressure that allows more to seep in to replenish the mass.

    • Some think so. Long after some wells were abandon for not producing enough, were reopened, cleaned up scratched etc.. The reservoir was found with more oil than when it was abandon.
      There is some truth to your comment. I would not necessarily hold my breath, but it is possible. Sometime, a reservoir is 2 reservoir with a thin wall. As production lower the reservoir level, the differential pressure bleed oil or gas or just brake. Reservoir engineering is a blind science.
