FYI: Any buy/sell transaction takes 3 bus.days to clear/record. That is always the difference between your exdate and record date! If you own at end of day on exdate, any sell after that date will go past the record date in order to clear/ record; meaning you are then on record on the record date for it and will recv! Also, the stock price will always go down the amount of the div distribution-that is normal for all div stocks! Hope this helps your decision making So l3l_00lvl was/is absolutely correct
If you want the divy, hold at least until the ex date, If you dont want the divy, sell before the ex date. Example, lets say the divy is 1.00 to make it simple pps = 25.00 before ex date, If you hold through the ex date, the pps automatically goes to 24.00 plus you will get the 1.00 later. Whether the stock price goes up or down is a guess after that but it will usually, eventually return to 25.00 over time.
