    Ancestry.com - the product

trying to do some research today I decided to go to their website etc. and check out the product. I was surprisingly impressed with the ease, breadth, and depth of their "software as a service" and access to all the databases.

    • The company is basically fraudulent. Once you subscribe to their "service". it is impossible to cancel and you keep being billed on a monthly basis on your credit card. We have cancelled repeatedly, dispute the charges on a monthly basis for over six months and can not stop the charges from being made on our visa card. The service is worthless and nothing other than fraudulent.

    • I've been a member of their services for a year,, I was able to do what my Aunt spent 2 years doing in about a month. Basically, verifying her research. It was worth the money plus I was able to tap into other peoples research taking me further than she got. The flaw with this info is that you have to be careful of the research that someone else is putting in the system. It could easily be manipulated to look like I was directly related to anybody I wanted by making a few properly placed mistakes. But I still like the idea of this service. Heritage.com offers a simular product for free (i believe) ,, but you get what you pay for.
