Could someone please answer this for me please..reasonable, honest question,

I hear of 120-150 guns to be on the ban list. Where can I find a list of these weapons. I would like to know the breakdown of all the guns on it. rifles, pistols and shot guns. 120 seems like an awful lot Thank you, in advance. Have a great evening and be safe.

    • Don't waste your time now as the list will channge many times. If it is ever passed and hopefully it will not pass you won't need the list.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • Many on all sides of the gun issue repeatedly comment about keeping weapons from the hands of the mentally ill. Their embrace for this idea is understandable but foolish. Consider the difficulties and consequences of such an enhanced effort. First, a definition of the class of mentally ill would be needed. Any definition which would include only those who have had formal action against them by a court would allow many mental illness sufferers to purchase weapons. Any broader definition would require that medical professionals report on every patient to the government and maintenance of a government health dossier on every person the doctors report. Every person's Constitutional protection would be at the discretion and even the whim of any single doctor who chose to diagnose a mental condition. (Would even gun control advocates tolerate this for other Constitutional rights protected in the Bill of Rights?). This breach of confidentially between doctor and patient, as well as the fear of loss of legal rights would discourage many from seeking treatment and would encourage everyone to be withholding in communication when they seek treatment for other conditions.

The unfortunate bottom line is that the only gun control which can be truly effective is total ban and total confiscation, including intense thorough nationwide search to confiscate hidden weapons. An effective search would have to be so invasive and oppressive that even most gun control advocates would object (as they are searched too!). Any lesser ban would either be of no effect or, worse, disarm those who are not the problem while leaving the criminal element armed.

      • They could offer a bill that defines those under psychiatric care taking meds with black box warnings, such as SSRI's. That there should be not confiscation exactly, but strong advisement for people to either keep the gun in a safe at home away from patient, or to temporarily store the weapon with police until secure safekeeping is possible. If the patient lives alone, he should be advised before treatment that it is unsafe if he has or obtains weapons if the drugs have unforeseen side effects, that the weapons should be temporarily stored away from the house voluntarily, and until this is done and confirmed by police, he cannot be treated with psyche meds. Now that isn't perfect, because these lone wolf gunmen often do live alone. Perhaps in this instance there could be a law requiring temporary confiscation while under treatment if there is no one there to watch the patient. This would be the only instance where HIPAA laws could be circumvented. You know, they even take your belt off while in a psychiatric hospital. These people who are borderline psycho should not under any circumstances have any access to a weapon.

    • Sounds like these assault rifles will be worthless when the laws are implement, except for on the black market. Feel bad for those guys paying a premium for them recently, they'll have to risk jail time to sell them later or trade them in to be melted down for $300 or so. Good for them. They can boycott and talk tough all they want, its ridiculous for kids and the insane having access to these weapons.

      • Wait till folks have to pay the taxes on these guns. Not all people are wealthy, and scraped to get the money together to buy these guns, Not to mention the people who put these guns on CREDIT CARDS and did not pay a dime on them yet. Interest besides high premium. WOW!!! Cannot feel sorry for people like this. That tax money will be out of reach for many people. Plus it will be yearly. I think the government will meet in the middle and not take these weapons away, but have all past and present guns on the list registered plus taxed yearly. Plus make hicap mags illegal to own. After the law is passed, I sure would not want to get caught with one of these guns on the list. The ATF will be straining at the leash to set examples. We have all heard nightmare stories of people who got caught over the years with sawed off shotguns and parts used to convert to full auto. I see the guns that are deemed illegal to be "a dime a dozen" and if you think that the government is going to give you $300 a gun to melt them down.....good luck with that.
