Joe Nocera writes on op ed page that a German company, Amartix, will soon market a pistol that uses radio frequencies that allow only the owner to fire it. Is it possible that radio frequencies from a school can disable all firearms in a certain radius save police officers'.
You are too late. Cheney already initiated preparation for that program. Obama criticized it when he was Senator and then candidate but now continues the program like all the other excesses he criticized Bush/Cheney for.
The particular "concept gun" envisioned by Armartix is a .22 caliber pistol which requires activation by a smart wristwatch which contains technology to scan fingerprints, and compare it with a fingerprint database. It's a Rube Goldberg contraption.
There are no natural buyers for "smart guns". The military, the police, hunters, self-defense individuals, would never want them. Maybe there could be a government "investment", like the wise investments in solar panels, electric cars, and windmills in the U. S.
I hope not !! Imagine if such radio controlled guns were mandated by the government. Then the government could shut down every weapon at will. In effect, everyone could be instantly disarmed by the government. Take that, Second Amendment !!
