    Where does OVTI go after 5 meg CMOS

    I think this talk about a buyout is a waste of time folks. There is nothing they have that Kodak, or Sony can't acquire without OVTI. I have researched CMOS and there are better solutions in CMOS technology right now in smaller privately held companies. Those will be the buyout candidates, not OVTI.

    OVTI must survive and grow on their own.

    Getting back to my question. After 5 megapixels, there is not much bang for your buck. This is true in camera phones. You won't see much difference in higher resolutions on a 2 inch by 2 inch screen. The lense becomes more important to quality at that point. OVTI will need to capture and overtake CCD in the DSC market to grow from here. To do that, they need a break, some key event to put them over the top.

      This a fairly insightful post. Can you add anything to it?

    • Yeah I know, but I always learn something from this board. One of the best for trading stocks and knowledge, as long as the politics are out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • don't forget the phone pictures get uploaded to the PC....so to enlarge one of this pictures at let's say 8X10 paper...you better have plenty of pixels....

      =================

      These are all good points. Further, little OVTI will never break the BIG Seven of Japan in the DSC market. Actually, the Big Seven with CCD are taking over the whole DSC market. All you have to do is check your Sunday paper. OVTI is in major trouble here on all fronts.

        Good post. I don't know if I agree with your conclusion though. Are you confident that "Big Seven with CCD are taking over the whole DSC market"?
