    A lesson from the past

Of all the stocks you list OVTI has second lowest market cap and LOWEST FLOAT. If you're going to attempt to manipulate a stock OVTI is the best candidate of the bunch. Past/ ongoing{?} sec investigation brings the attention also.

    • Davey, it's not an investigation. It is a standard required inquiry on any company that restates ernings for prior quarters. It is actually a non event unless you are Short and want to use it to Bash the stock and scare those that don't know any better.

Fine. Here are some semi stocks with market cap less than $1 billion (like OVTI) and their short positions as % of available shares.

ALSC ($70m mkt cap), 3% short
      AMCC ($900m), 0.5% short
      AMKR ($800m), 6% short
      ANAD ($45m), 1.5% short
      AXTI ($28m), 0.1% short
      CNXT ($700m), 1% short
      ISSI ($270m), 15% short
      KOPN, ($280m), 2.5% short

It appears having a smaller market cap indicates LESS short as a % of the total, not more. The only one above with a short position of more than 3% of the float is ISSI, and last quarter on sales of $35m they had an operating loss of $6 million, so their short position has some fundamental explanation.

OVTI had an averagea operating margin of 25% in the past four quarters, yet has perhaps the LARGEST short position as a % of the float of ANY semiconductor company.

Can anybody explain this? ISSI has negative operating margins and has 15% of its float short, OVTI is hugely profitable, but has 38% of the float short. The average profitable semi has ~3% of its float short.

What the hell is going on here!??!?!?

      • Lots of institutional interest and competition... its the fact that when a company moves from growth to Maturity in a marktet that is evolving, there's this ying/yang effect on how to make it win or loss...Some How... is the Politics of what side is stronger... the Investment banker that took OVTI public did a great job in delivering to us this great opportunity to invest in a great product... that I may add is inproving... CDM merger... :)

The short interest and the few negitives are part of what is "almost too good to be true"
But with the problems OVTI has... it will be awsome to see when the turn happens and they fix the "Guidence" with UP... UP and Away To Midcap values... 3 billion to 5 billion... may take another year... no problem.. ya man... :)

      • Read my post on shorty....I think they are gambling not investing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
