    Guidance

is always more important to the institutional investors than earnings.

    • The earning were great and the guidance was in line, or put it in other words, just good.
The market learnet to expect amazing from OVT
They all know that OVT will beat again next q and they have $500M cash
At some point the correction will be over and it will fly.
      Be strong...nothing to worry!

      • I disagree.

If the market expected "amazing" from OVTI it wouldn't be trading at a (now) trailing PE of around 12 with around 9 after you consider cash.

A stock with "amazing" expectation, like NFLX, would be trading at between 30 & 60.

That's what doesn't make any sense here. I can see a huge plunge on a small beat and guidance just a little over if we had a PE of 40, but with our current low PE we should have flown.

Everyone forgets that the only reason we haven't been rallying into the 40's is because of rumors that we are losing Apple.

Earnings, again, showed that this is either not true or if it true it won't impact OVTI's profitability. You'd think that would be enough to reassure everyone that the sky isn't falling.

But since the latest "iphone" rumor was more than a month ago, everyone forgot that the we are only below $37 because of fears of a huge miss. So a slight beat was hurt when it shouldn't have.

The problem is that the institutions probably won't wake up to this fact for a while.

      • agree. Guidance proves strong growth to substantial earnings is here to stay. Plenty of upside remaining. The institutions will be piling in. I see $50 in the near term as a real possibility.

    • My point is that it is tough to hold stocks over earnings and even to buy a stock as a play for earnings because earnings many be great but if forward guidance is weak. The big boys will bail on the small investors.

      • It sounded like you were saying OVTI guidance wasn't good....the problem is, owners of this stock are so spoiled that in line guidance, which OVTI will most likely beat handily anyway, wasn't very impressive....and OVTI didn't provide a 44% beat on earnings this quarter....sell off today was, shall we say, over cooked....

    • Yeah, and your point is.....?....
