It is not SONY, sorry shorts

Thank you for the article...very interesting....seems this author not convinced it is all Sony even with the Chipworks. I suspect we will start seeing more articles such as this and more clues pointing to the dual sourcing. I also find it interesting that they are starting to cut out Samsung-which makes sense. Also makes sense they would never rely on Sony only for any parts.

    • Apple may have slightly relaxed their use of dual sourcing as the volumes explode and things like labor issues, tsunami, floods and earthquakes can impact production output.

We were certainly fooled by the Oct 4th presentation especially when all the ANAL-ysts jumped on the Omnivision bandwagon. This was certainly unwarranted. A lot of the rumors had substance. That Gerra guy was vilified but he as right all along. Now we we love to embrace his 50-50 split, far better than losing 100 % of 4S to Sony.

There will never be any verification of the split, if any.

For now all we can do is to look forward to the CC (they need to meet Q2 guidance and come up with positive guidance for Q3) and hopefully catch some solid rumors early next year on the iphone5 design in. At least there is only another 6 months before this decision is made. Hopefully OVTI can come up with a better sensor than Sony's 4S sensor which is truly available in high volume production in April 2012.
