    Short Interest

Why did the short interest increase from November to December? The time to short was when the merger was announced but why short now? With all the debt are they going to have severely decreased earnings?

I do think we could drop in price below 10 but it is not a given. I think upside is severely limited over next 2 years. Anytime we get over 14 anyone with the new shares priced at 14 can start dumping. Maybe that is it, anytime it gets even a penny over 14 they start to short even if it is for just for small moves.

    • As you might know, the short interest is being reported twice a month now. A quick look at past figures shows a pretty good jump in the number:

      Dec. 14, 2007 39,215,666
      Nov. 30, 2007 37,625,959
      Nov. 15, 2007 16,680,370
      Oct. 31, 2007 13,213,187
      Oct. 15, 2007 12,797,400
      Sep. 28, 2007 7,795,568
      Sep. 14, 2007 7,771,179

AND the Dec 31 number came out tonight: 44,370,116 shares, which is up another 5MM from the 39,215,666 reported for mid-Dec.
