The Wii will be great for GME this holiday season and, more importantly, 09. GME's management thinks as much, as indicated in excerpt below (from Sept).
Since the Wii install base is growing like crazy, and since more games are coming out for the wii, and since the wii goes beyond the hardcore gamer demographic, GME stands to gain quite a bit from the wii's success. this should come out again in guidance which will likely be more important than earnings.
Spurring this continued demand is a flurry of new software titles, many of which were presented to the retailer Tuesday at GameStop Expo in Las Vegas. “What we’re seeing during this Gamestop Expo is an exponential increase in the number of games coming to Wii over last year,” say Bartel. “I think last year, publishers were waiting to see if it would hold on and now everyone’s convinced. Now everyone’s jumping in.” He adds that “the largest increase in sales of games is happening on the Wii and DS.”
