Gears of war 3 = 6 million sales expected

An article appeared over the weekend with quotes from the developer head as expecting Gears of War 3 could sell 6 times platinum.

That means 6 million in sales for those who are shorting GME.

I'd hate to be on the wrong side of a 6 million platinum sale for te retail stocks that sell video games. I wouldn't short Best buy or any retailer this year for video game expectations like this for just 1 title.

Cod mw3 is doing extremely well.

Elder scrolls Skyrim is hugely anticipated.

Sep. Through Nov. Is q3 and q4.

Cover your shorts while there is still time!

    • "So, what you're saying here is that Gamestop should close down it's B&M stores. Right!?
      God you're stupid! "

Uhm? Nope I never said that.

Going to a Redbox means paying $2 rental per day or $60 if you want to own.

B&M stores of Gamestop have Used video games now typically $55 w/o one time use code required in the title or $45 with.

Therefore...cheaper to go to THOSE B&M stores than to pull up to a Redbox if you want to own.

You want to OWN a game? REDBOX ain't the place to go.

Unless you think to rent a game on the basis you can beat the game in 2 weeks time and return it quickly at Redbox there's little reason for Redbox outside of very short term Renting.

And when Spawn Labs is live? The rental aspect will be limited as Spawn Labs will take away some of the business in my speculative opinion.

Even then you can sometimes get lucky as I've seen and get a USED Gamestop Game for as low as $15.00. It depends.

Your claim that REDBOX is going to hurt Gamestop?

      It's deeply flawed.

REDBOX sells ZERO mobile video games for rent or own and ZERO PC games as well right now.

      REDBOX's impact is ridiculously limiting.

If it weren't then GAMESTOP would have lost to GAME CRAZY / Blockbuster / any multitude of Game Rental stores back in the 1990s.

Game Renting in any format is absolutely not an automatic threat to Gamestop.

Shorting (GME) on that basis is well not a strong enough of a thesis.

    • until then, this summer is full of horrible games which will reduce sales

      • My mistake battlefield isn't out till the fall and final fantasy 4 heroes of light release last year I believe.

Nonetheless you have The witcher 2 assassin of kings
        Crysis 2 and so on...

This Summer has seen several video games scoring real high ratings on www.gamerankings.com.

The only issue here is that there were far more titles released last year versus this year which in large part contributed to the sales drop in May.

Gamestop stores were packed though ever since June 28th release of Cod black ops annihilation.

Ohhhhh. But let's ignore the much anticipated black ops expansion and just throw up a nonsense statement about how every video game released so far is horrible.... What do you even know about video games?????

I played them since atari was new!

      • Were you sleeping under a rock back in April?

We have seen April numbers so good this year for retail that even considering the May bad numbers we are up 6% year over year in just bricks an motor retail.

As of July 2nd we have seen tremendously good video games out or soon to be out:

1). Zelda ocarina of time 3D
        2). Infamous 2
        3). Battlefield 3
4). Cod black ops expansion packs
        5). resident evil 3D
        6). Dead or alive + street fighter 4 3D
        7). Red faction
        8). Radiant Historia
9). Duke nukem forever. (at least I think so)
        10) La Noire
        11) Portal 2
        12) Final Fantasy 4 heroes of light

Do I need to continue??? It has been a really great exceptional year for video games and you are sitting there pretending otherwise????

With new 3DS titles out and coming soon I fully expect sales of the handheld to be taking off soon.

    • until then, this summer is full of horrible games which will reduce sales

    • So, what you're saying here is that Gamestop should close down it's B&M stores. Right!?
      God you're stupid!

    • I did the MATH retard.

an INFINITE number of GAMESTOPs will open for business soon in Q4 of this year or Q1 of next year in form of SPAWN LABS.

      Oh wait!!! I GET IT!!!

You want to get into your car....Drive all the way to the nearest KIOSK...

      Hop out of your car...

Put money into the KIOSK.. PUNCH game rental..

Take game rental to your car...

Drive all the way home.....(stopping to fill up for GAS on the way)...

And then enjoy your game rental?

      YOU DO THAT!!!!

I'll stick with *SPAWN LABS* in which the very device either sitting in my hands or in my pocket will allow me to rent a video game of my choice at the touch of a button.

      RETARD!!!

You go use up that GASOLINE in your Vehicle of yours!!

      YOU DO THAT!!!!

    • 20,000 new competitors to Gamestop opened for business 2 days ago. You do the math retard.

    • With Blockbuster (just coming out of hiatus) and Hollywood Rental / Game Crazy now a complete BUST...

And many other Video Game Rental stores now ceased...

REDBOX is nothing special. They are just entering a market that is heavily lacking....

They are entering the Games Rental Market.

      But guess what?

      So is Gamestop.

Gamestop has Spawn Labs remember? When that goes live in 2012 they will essentially be involved with the Video Game Rental business as well.

You say REDBOX is going to eat Gamestop's business because why?

Because it is RED? and has the word BOX in it?

      Why?

Why when Gamestop will enter the Games Rental business soon themselves?

Every conceivable argument you can come up with Gamestop has already produced an answer to that....

The Android PHONE market is strong even if the TABLET market is a bit weak for Android.

That PHONE market now has KONGREGATE Arcade on it.

Gamestop is heavily involved in the very facets of business you think will usurp Gamestop's business?

You can't say any given facet will destroy Gamestop when Gamestop is now heavily involved in competing in those facets.

    • Those sound like great games....... to rent at Redbox!
