    Game tranfsers -- only once

I'm surprised that there is not more discussion of this "only once" rule from Microsoft.

-- "Games can be freely passed on to friends, Microsoft added, but only once.

"Xbox One is designed so game publishers can enable you to give your disc-based games to your friends," the statement said.

There are no fees charged as part of these transfers.

There are two requirements: you can only give them to people who have been on your friends list for at least 30 days and each game can only be given once." --

So free transfers among friends is limited. Can games be bought and sold an unlimited number of times via retailers, craigslist, ebay and the like; or is this type of transfer limited as well?

It sounds like the game publishers are going to have all of the control here to decide if there is an additional fee on buy/sell transactions and how many times a game can be bought/sold. How can the publishers access a fee to a buy/sell transaction through non-retail avenues? If a game is bought privately is this considered a "free" transfer according to microsoft and thus limited to one private transaction per game?

Could be a boon or a bust to retailers but there are currently too many questions left unanswered. I suspect we will get some answers this week at E3.

    • MS is not going to shout out anything will rock the boat. They will keep a "business as usual" posture until Sony releases and shows their hand. Regardless, it's in the best interest of MS, Sony and the publishers to starve out any retailers of physical games.

    • i'm hoping sales suck with the new machines and they have to retract their #$%$ mentality. thread after thread says no one is buying this garbage. they could have been a little more subtle in killing the used game market like offering digital a week before b&m.

      Sentiment: Strong Sell
