  • After looking at OPLK even further it may be one of the cheapest stocks in the entire small cap space and just picked up some more shares. Even without a merger, I see both companies appreciating much higher from these levels.

    • Oplink is basically contract manufacturer and not comparable to product developers. All CMs rarely lose money, they are unable to raise additional funds from financial markets so they operate very conservatively. They have no value in their businesses except current cash flow and depend on signing contact agreements.
      OPLK revenue dropped 20% y-o-y last quarter with flat telecom spending despite no impact from Great Flood. OPLK execution is still very good, but you can’t rely on future revenue increase until you see new contracts signed. The telecom industry is currently in transition to 100G and it feels new products do not flow to OPLK.
