In a 4yr range the Classic Tall went from $140 to $209..Are you telling us that the price of raw materials went up $70 for the same shoe?
Has anyone ever shopped for a pair of shoes and that same model went up so much? Bull..
They got greedy and saw the demand and they got away with it. Now they are paying the price for their mistakes.
They thought by raising prices they could make up for short falls every year as the demand went down.
They did this fall all their styles with price increases.
Shame on Martinez and management.
Agree with you man. This is a mismanagement of very few equals in retail sector. How could these bozos don't or didn't see the astronomical built up of inventory. If the raw material prices were rising they should have controlled the inventory even more carefully.
Drunken greedy, inept people running business. Don;t have better words to describe this astronomical failure of the management of DECK. Nasty!
There may be some truth to your accusation that Martinez priced the Ugg brand unreasonably too high.
Now the plan is to discount the Uggs so that the brand sells through at retail, which will hopefully prevent Uggs warehouse, and Uggs retail store account cutsomers, from getting stuck with inventory.
$89 a pair retail would probably motivate consumers to buy enough Uggs to clear out the pipeline.
That kind of discounting would mean Deckers loses significant money . And the Uggs brand name would lose pricing power.
