Yesterday, NewsFactor.com reported on the trade group World Semiconducter Trade Statistics Committee. The Committee cut its forecast for chip sales growth 23.5% (from a growth of 21.7% to a growth of 16.6%), "citing a delay in an electronics recovery that had been expected to materialize in this year's fourth quarter." NewsFactor goes own to state: "Even worse, the Americas [Western Hemisphere statistics] are expected to see sales decline by 11.3% next year." What are independent consultants saying? The well-known Gartner group has an analyst, Richard Gordon. He is quote as stating he thinks even the 16.6% growth forecast is "an unachievable number for next year."
