Transdermal Granisetron patch which last 5 days for CINV exists. APPA failed to mention that one in the drugs they list used for CINV on their APF530 webpage. Either they do not know about it or they do and left it out on purpose since the product uses the same drug and same indication but differ on drug delivery method. Anyway, I came across that while researching Granisetron. APPA's drug is subcutaneous Granistron extended release.
The problem with the patch, it releases SO LITTLE it is hardly effective:
Seeing as how you failed to post all the information about the patch, I will help you out. Here is a statment taken directly from the website with information:
it releases 3.1 mg of granisetron per 24 hours for up to 7 days
Compare that to recommended dosage of immediate Granisetron is a 2mg daily. In 2010 patch did about $12 million is sales. Patch got FDA in 2008 and EMA in 2012. Patch probably cost several hundred dollars like Aloxi.
