Big sales, small sales is doesn't matter. SSNC has good product but lacks focus and the people to execute. Good sales people can sell ok products. Bill has the ingredients to be a fine organization in the financial services space. SSNC needs to do a better job in customer relationship management. People still buy from people the last time I checked. When the market rebounds the stock is poised to hit new highs, It's not to late for SSNC to reinvent itself.
You are correct on the "...People buy from people..". And SS&C can reinvent itself. The products are good, they could be great. Bill needs to invest in the products and more importantly the people to make the products great. SS&C was here in the mid 90's too. Sales were okay, customer satisfaction was poor and lawsuits were a breath away. The people made all the difference in the customer perception and helped turn things around. But then Bill got heady with "his success" again, and started thinking he was making the difference. He needs to step out of the day to day and bring someone in that can run the company. A strong board would have done that 5 years ago.
A good SVP of Sales who had 25% 0f his comp tied to customer sat surveys would be a good start.Brett and Rooney were SMEs but weak on mgt.Let's see who they come up with because Bill and Norm have other responsibilities other than sales.
