    Sherwin-Williams Acrylic Enamel....

    If i remember right, the acrylic enamel reduced 100-150%, so for about 40 bucks you had enough material to paint two full-sized cars. Dupont had an ENAMEL based primer at the time called Preparakote (SP?), which filled like crazy. You could also reduce it and use it as a sealer, which eliminated the need for buying a separate quart of non-sanding sealer. The one sealer coat keeps the topcoat from bleeding through and is absolutely necessary for a nice long-lasting paint job. Dupont Imron came out about the same time and their Metallic colors were magical in the sun. Two or three coats and it looked like a million bucks and 20 years later, it still looked good....
