    question?

    why do stocks go down after earnings? the truth only? I noticed mtw made earnings and they dropped. whats with that?

    • Sometimes just meeting earnings isn't enough. The stock price reflects future expectations. Earnings guidance going forward may disappoint. Other times investors believe the analyst's estimates are too low and they buy the stock hoping for an earnings beat. When that doesn't happen they sell the stock. These moves are exagerated if the stock is trading pre or post market because of the lower volume of trades. Manitowac (a crane company) is sensitive to the world economy and often reacts to news out of China or Europe.
      Don't worry, if you didn't sell the stock is currently flat for the day.
