This is huge .... this is REALLY HUGE!!!!!! Talk about connections!! ... this will turn around the assault on for-profit education
SANTA ANA, Calif., April 30, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Corinthian Colleges, Inc. (COCO) today announced that the Honorable Leon Panetta, a former U.S. Secretary of Defense and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, was unanimously appointed to the company's Board of Directors April 27.
Leaon Panetta ... we are talking about a very strategic thinker ... does anyone really think that Panetta would join the board of a company with a dim future ... Corinthian is "one of the largest post-secondary education companies in North America" ... clearly, his acceptance of the position on Corinthian's Board signals that the administration is shifting their views towards for-profit colleges ... in any case, Panetta has significan influence in Washington ... this is great, great news for our future!!!
I wonder if this news (and the longer-term implications of what it really means) is the reason GS and Wells Fargo significantly added to their position during the past two months ... nah, you don't think GS has anybody on the inside in Washington that would know Panetta's plans ... nah, that couldn't happen
Listen, I really do not care about your politics ... but, the recent statement below is something important to note about the influence of our newest board member ... today is a very significant day in Corinthian's history ... when Panetta was last on the Board, COCO was a $15 stock ... now with his influence, we may get there once again ... one thing for sure, people in Washington will listen to the man
“Leon, from your first day in uniform until today, your dedicated service to America has spanned nearly 50 remarkable years,” he said. “And as you review these fine troops one last time, as you return home and walk your farm, know that the grand arc of your life speaks to our larger American story, for you can say with confidence and with pride that you've fulfilled the hopes that brought Carmelo and Carmelina Panetta to these shores all those years ago.
“You made them proud,” he continued. “You've helped keep alive the American dream, for not only your children and grandchildren, but for all of our children and grandchildren. And for that, we will be eternally grateful.”
