Here's the reason I think a Global Pandemic is almost 100% certain:

    Consider this...
The distance between Shanghai and Beijing is more than 750 miles.
So...the virus was able to travel more than 750 miles without leaving a trail of dead birds.
Unlike the H5N1 bird flu...H7N9 does not seem to make birds very sick or sick at all. This makes tracking the movement of the virus and containing it to limited flocks of birds next to impossible.
So, these diseased but otherwise healthy looking birds, will go about their business, spreading H7N9 to other birds across the planet....
This H7N9 Virus is said to be 8x more likely to mutate and there is currently no vaccine or proven treatment.
What do you think the chances are of testing , vaccinating & containing all every bird in the world?
Chickens are easy enough...they don't fly and can be contained.
This new stealth killer has wings & sees no boundaries.
    God help us all.

    • And now H7N9 has spread to central China...
New H7N9 avian flu cases bring China total to 57
      Sunday, 14 April, 2013 [UPDATED: 18:58]
Two new cases of H7N9 bird flu infection were reported in central China's Henan province on Sunday.
Two people in the central Chinese province of Henan have been infected by a new strain of avian influenza, the first cases found in the region, while an additional four cases in eastern Zhejiang province and two in Jiangsu brought the total number nationwide to 57.
Great concern seems to be warranted. It's a worldwide problem.
Something tells me that NVAX will also be all over the news next week.
The world can't wait 7 months for an vaccine when facing a killer pandemic.
      I think we'll be hearing about... NVAX & Fast-Track.

      • Now 60 cases, 13 deaths...
(Reuters) - Two people in the central Chinese province of Henan have been infected by a new strain of avian influenza, the first cases found in the region, while the death toll has risen to 13 from a total of 60 infections after two more deaths in Shanghai.

One of the Henan victims, a 34-year old man in the city of Kaifeng, is now critically ill in hospital, while the other, a 65-year old farmer from Zhoukou, is stable. The two cases do not appear to be connected.

      • I am long NVAX, but problem is, if people keep thinking NVAX is going to play directly in vaccinating people for this Asian virus, they will be disappointed. this new virus is helping create more awareness for NVAX VLP technology, and the promise it represents for future pandemic response. but I am afraid they are not yet capable to participate in this one. thoughts? regardless, my bet on NVAX is in the RSV area, so my preference is that the share price is not driven by the pandemic, but rather, by the RSV program.

    • Is it only found in birds?
Why were thousands of dead pigs thrown in the river near Shanghai?
