    Last night on H2 channel

There was a show about The Apocalypse and one the Horseman carrying a virus pretty much described like the MERS virus with flu like symptoms. Is this Biblical Prophecy becoming truth? Why on Earth did the authorities allow a health care worker traveling from a known region with confirmed cases of the MERS virus travel back to the U.S. without being kept in quarantine first. There could very well be many more confirmed cases in the coming week. The 1st confirmed case in the U.S. is not good. How many more could have been infected. The other persons on the airplane, London airport, Chicago airport, the bus, and how many persons could now be carriers without knowing it. This is not Good for all of humanity. I for one would hope it is a misdiagnosis. I'll take the potential pop in NVAX. However all the money in the world may not protect anyone from this virus.

    • But at least we will know about the
virus, the protein on its surface, the possible vaccine by NVAX
That's got to be worth something
      Doesn't it?

    • Look back at the H5N1 case imported into Canada a few months ago. Exactly the same kind of gross overreaction was taking place here then as is taking place here now. Back then I noted that the risk of it spreading was exceptionally low and was attacked for saying that. But it turned out I was correctly.

As Yogi Berra said: "It's deja vue all over again."

The probability of the MERS case in the USA spreading is extraordinarily low. The risk is known, they know how to handle it and, in stark contrast to some Saudi Arabian hospitals, the USA hospitals will be taken great care with protective measures (most especially masks AND EYE protection).

The situation is very serious but not remotely as immediately serious as it's being presented as here.

This board also vastly exaggerated the potential of seasonal H1N1 when there were a few deaths in Texas (a standard occurrence with seasonal flus, which always cause deaths). I pointed out then that those deaths were well within the limits of normal variation in seasonal flus and was attacked for saying it but, again, it turned out I was totally correct.

Panic rules on Yahoo. Too many hoping to get a pop from panic and doing everything they can to foment it.

    • My thoughts exactly, if Novavax would ever do it, I'd ask for a dose to be sent to my doc. Never happen of course.
