KMP has a buy rating in Utiltity Forecast of $52.
KMR also has a buy rating and they both pay over 6.5% yield.
Is KMR the better buy as far as the going Price per share?
They both seem to be in the same business of storing and moving oil and have the same ceo.

    • They pay identical dividends. KMR pays in stock; KMP in cash.
      A buy at $52!! Amusing.
They have pledged to pay $4.02 in dividends in 2008 and had a blow out fourth quarter. I have owned this stock for years; a constant dividend increase.
THIS STOCK IS A BUY AT $60, rock solid in a crazy world.

    • KMP and KMR are essentially exactly the same company. Only difference is KMP pays a cash distribution (which you may spend or reinvest as you see fit), while KMR pays exactly the same $$ per quarter as new shares. KMR is technically a payment-in-kind system, not a reinvestment plan, so tax treatment is different between the two. With KMR no cash changes hands, only shares...sort of like a mini-split each quarter. You only pay capital gains tax (against your original basis) when you sell. Until then; no taxes and nothing to report (i.e., no K-1 or 1099).

Lots written here and on the KMR board about the two.
