Why is KMP affected more than KMI?

Is it because of the KMP assets that have to be sold off?

Won't the selling of those assets by KMP provide the cash to buy the El Passo pipeline assets after KMI owns them?

This is a complex deal but KMI was always going to sell the EP pipeline assets to KMP and this sould result in less dilution at KMP... no?

The only assets KMI has are substantially in KMP. Some divestiture was expected and this seems to be less than forecast. More "drop-downs" to KMP in the future. A non-event to me.

      • Agree Mark. This looks like the same set-up as last year when there was all of the fuse about KMP's cash flow being upstreamed to KMI when KMI IPOd. The stock rose from $71.20 form Mid Feb. to $77.83 by 4/26. The divdiend has basically been outlined at $4.98 for 2012, leaving an average of $1.28 to be paid out over the next sveral quarers. I see that as the market overreacting, but curious that Cramer exited when he did. Otherwise, I can see $90 by 4/27.
