Does anyone know if Walker Manufacturing has been sold yet? They are not talking about it at all. (keeping it hush hush) What's the deal?

    • who you talk to. Rumor was early on that MDB was
the deal to just to make a buck.I guess, get in clean
up some of the problems and sell it. Then the word
was that MDB already had a buyer once they got all
the kinks worked out. We have largely been kept in
the dark (much like the guys at TA) nobody in mgt.
knows anything at least that is the line. We are
hearing that the TA deal isn't going down until after the
packaging deal is complete (April 12) is the tentative
date. It is safe to say that regaurdless of who winds
up with packaging things will certainly be better
than they have been the last several months with TEN.
Also in case you didn't know MDB is based in Chicago,
I believe this is also the stomping ground for
those "free agents" from Smurf. Wonder if they have met
each other yet ? I'll update if I get more info.

    • What's the inside skinny at Tenneco about Madison
Dearborn Partners? I work in the packaging industry, at
another company. I have a sneaky feeling that MDP might
just hook up with a couple of new "free agents" that
the Smurf's just released. This dynamic duo have the
financial connections to unite PCA and several other
companies to make a very interesting combination. With
PCA's 67 plants, Counce, Filer City, Tomohawk, and
Valdosta, plus Gaylord's 18 plants and Bogalusa mill, plus
      who knows what else?

      With such a combination,
(maybe throw in Box USA's 20 plants), all of a sudden,
you have a pure linerboard/corrugated play, with the
horses to get the job done, and no blue guys to tell 'em
what to do! I am very interested in your response.

    • The old Walker Manufacturing Company folks are
doing just fine(at least the O.E. side of the business
is). Us aftermarket peons are just hanging on, waiting
for the shoe to drop. Of course OHL and crew are
doing their best to keep us afloat. EWO is doing the
best job possible too. Word is we will hear something
on Friday. Rumor on Monday was director levels and
above were to get physicals for the new company to
review. We also heard that the Greenwich estate was sold.
If it is Tower that buys or merges us, we won't have
to change much......we will still be a TA
      company...Tower Automotive.

    • There are many hard working employees at our
Walker facility in Seward. We live day to day with
rumors and secret staff meetings. Our Staff claims they
know nothing but we don't believe them. Our plant is
part OE and aftermarket. We would like to know if we
are going to lose some of our business if the company
is split. Please let the people affected by this
know where they stand. We are tired of
      waiting.
