They will have to raise the dividend now

I will take the cash, via a divd, in my pocket to do what I want with it. Maybe buy more shares or not. But it is my option rather than mgmnts.
Numerous studies have shown company mgmnt poorly times share buy backs.

    • No need to raise the dividend. Continue capital improvements and perhaps some acquisitions. This is not a $20 stock. GLW needs to act like the 3000 pound gorilla that it is and move up with the big boys. That requires more investments.

      • They have plenty of cash on hand to do anything they want in the way of growing the business (unless they want to buy an airline)... and I don't think grabbing other businesses and trying to run them make sense unless it is an important symbiotic grab and picks up a piece of the profit and controls the material streams or technology to their own manufacturing. They will by all accounts generate some solid profits as well in 2011 and 2012.
To keep a less than 1% dividend out there would be pathetic. I would rather see them pull it but the press would be negative. I am guessing they will do what ever they want regardless of our little posts, but I would not be surprised if they increase soon. imo
