Corning Inc. Message Board

  • alphamojo alphamojo Nov 9, 2011 10:47 PM Flag

I have been an active investor for 30+ years during which I have followed GLW. I have recently made (for me) what is a major commitment. Based on Wednesday's close, I am up. I am astonished by this brain-dead Message Board which predoninantly wants to debate political issues and doesn't have a day-to-day clue about what is taking place at GLW. I am monitoring GLW's activity with Apple from multiple sources which for the information of the mostly brain-dead members of this Board should be of utmost concern. I will communicate what I discover on a day-to-day, week-to-week basis after my investments, long or short have cleared. I call upon the members of this Board to comment openly on this post. I am seeking to turn this Board around and make it relevant to GLW investments rather than politically bogus commentary. I expect 80% of the responses to this Post to be negative and critical which only serves to support my assertions. Its the birth of a new Board focused on GLW and NOTHING ELSE. For the few properly focused Board members. I solicit your support. We are going to know much more about what is taking place at GLW because I will establish a private Message Board promptly.
    Best Regards,

    • I have not contributed to this board before today, but on other boards plagued by bashers and pumpers, the following rules do help clean up the action:

      1. Grade good informative messages that include links to their information with 5 stars.

      2. Grade good information that allows you to find links to the information that you can come back and post on this board as 4 stars.

      3. Grade messages that a cheer leading calls as 3 stars.

      4. Grade messages that bash the company as 2 stars.

      5. Grade messages that slander another poster on this board as 1 star and write a reply advising that poster to spare the garbage.

      6. If any poster insists on a series of 2 or 1 star ratings, warn one more time that he will be put on ignore status by you...and then do that.

      7. Start your review of a board by a filter of 3 stars or more. Once a day, lower the filter to see all stars and take the cleanup actions outlined in steps 4, 5, 6.

      8. In the case of an extreme basher or slanderer, report him to the Yahoo team by using their suggestion system to improve the board.

      9. Do not rate or reply to any messages that do now pertain to the stock GLW, for this allows that message to remain near the top of the list. In many cases these messages will hit a button in your sensibility about some event in the world, but if it has nothing to do with GLW, let it die by attrition.

    • Agree, mostly garbage on this board. My ignore list was just increased exponentially. Anyone with a political comment not labeled OT will be permanently ignored. Good idea and thanks for your efforts Mojo.

      • Thanks for joining the Party, Narly. My early posts on this Board may seem more aggressive and overtly bullish than they will become over time. I covered this stock when I was 27 years old and have kept a close eye on it ever since. I will be particularly outspoken for awhile until these idiot-political-shorts have turned tail and run. I know how to rid the Board of them with close cooperation from Yahoo. I don't want to just put them on ignore. I want to send them to another planet.

    • Seems like we got this Board back on track just in time. Fifteen ($15) here we come!

    • I never count on something like buybacks, especially of the size you are talking about. And I think profits will be good for a long time, there isn't a lot in Corning's new product portfolio at the moment other than new glasses for the display industry, which are good, but will just replace the old glasses - I'd like to see something added to the portfolio. And by the way, remember, your $20 prediction from October is less than 45 days away (or will you make that 10 years too?)

    • Wow. I'm an idiot that's why I asked an intelligent person such as yourself guidance. Why are you so defensive when challenged for facts and data? You must be totally ignorant with your ranting and raving about how GLW should go down blah, blah, blah. Interesting. You are now on ignore.

    • Would be nice to discuss GLW, but many of the posters are just looking for a place to express their political views because no one listens to them elsewhere - but I'm game for this to be exclusive about GLW.

      • same here, i would like this board to change. Used to post here often but stopped cuz board is being hijacked by non sense. This board is a reflection of this country with 2 divided parties that can't do much but call each other names. Sad as a veteran especially on this day to see.

I do see people's frusturation with this stock which is why it is no longer #1 holding for me but rather 3 of 5 stocks i own. AAPL has been my #1 stock for couple years now and i am much happy with that pick.

    • I hope you get this new board started, the sooner the better. Maybe we can get these stupid fool know nothing pie in the sky neophytes the he-- out of here. Go talk your crap and lose your money someplace else where maybe like minds want to hear it.

    • Thanks for taking a stand. There are some on this board who don't know how to unlock their caps keys. There comments are reflective of their ignorance. They are brainwashed by the political rantings calculated to divide the population. But I can understand their frustration with the whipsawing of this market. Sitting at the computer dock watching the GLW ticks go by, I see blatant patterns of manipulation. The market makers of this stock would steal pennies from their grandmother. Beware when you trade at market.

Nice to hear it. All the political crap you can read in the news paper or hear it on the radio.

      • alphamojo,

        Whats it all about, Alphy

        What's it all about, Alphy?

Is it just for the moment we live?

What's it all about when you sort it out, Alphy?

Are we meant to take more than we give
or are we meant to be kind?

And if only fools are kind, Alphy,
then I guess it's wise to be cruel.

And if life belongs only to the strong, Alphy,
what will you lend on an old golden rule?

As sure as I believe there's a heaven above, Alphy,

I know there's something much more,
something even non-believers can believe in.

        I believe in love, Alphy.

Without true love we just exist, Alphy.

Until you find the love you've missed you're nothing, Alphy.

When you walk let your heart lead the way
and you'll find love any day, Alphy, Alphy.

    • @Mojo,

I'd be VERY interested in participating in any private message board you may establish regarding GLW, other stocks, or general investing. I'd give you my email address, but I don't trust most people on the Yahoo! boards, and won't give it out publically.
