Verizon to Roll out LTE in Two US Cities This Year

Craig McCaw has to be re-evaluating what his exit path is going to be for CLWR. He could continue on the 100% WiMAX path but how many well funded wireless carriers would be interested in buying an incompatible WiMAX network. On the other hand if he starts deploying LTE he at least gives his himself and his shareholders a possible future buyout opportunitiy by Verizon, AT&T or another investor in the LTE camp.

Investors almost aways place a profitable exit a higher priority than technological evangilism.

Of course to do this in the next three years he has to get Intel's permission. That's the rub.
