I am assuming that we (Aastrom) & share holder have a dog in this fight! I have a very good friend who has colon cancer that has spread to his liver. He did not know there was a problem until his bowels locked up! He is in the second round of chemotherapy.
If you want to see something depressing, page down to the chart of phases. According to the chart he has less that 5% chance of surviving 5 years! He sure could play golf! A gentleman and scholar he is!
Cancer is a bastard of a disease! Hey! I have always said that dying is part of living. From the day we are born, we start dying. Make the best of every day. Hug your wife and children. Tell everyone you care about that you love them. Oh yes! Don't forget to bike on the Creeper Trail and take the wife with you. Go hiking on the Applachian Trail and take the wife with you. Ride the harley on the Blue Ridge Parkway and live the wife at home!
Oh, by the way, we were not supposed to live more than 35 to 40 years in the first place.
My husband sounds a lot like your friend. Very constipated in April, diagnosed in May. Surgery: colostomy. The tumor is still in the rectal area, because the cancer spread to lymph nodes and bone. Doctor told me this week he hopes to give my husband a year, with all the chemo. I am devastated. My husband showed no signs before April, and he just turned 48.
