Forbes review: sounds like trash talk

from the review: At present, Globalstar is, in my view, not a reliable network and is still in the process of updating its constellation to second-generation satellites. While they offer low priced airtime rates, you may have difficulty in communicating at certain times.

Handsets are inexpensive and offer near-cellular voice quality, but handset to handset, and handset to landline costs can be high because of the way calls are processed between satellites and ground stations. As they complete their upgrade, the reliability of the network will improve, but I would not recommend Globalstar for emergency services at present.

    • I read the story. It made me wonder if there was a disconnect between when he wrote the article, and when the new satellites were up? Or is there some delay between the launching of the satellites and when they will make a difference in reliability. Or have the new satellites not really made a difference? He did not seem like a trash-talker.
