This isn't granfather willed me 200 shares

too bad he didn't will you the "WILL" to sell.
remember: this wanker has been SCREAMING sell since 150,000. Even if you had owed cap gains tax on the entire $150,000 - you'd STILL be ahead at this point if you had sold.
Most of the folks on this board will never sell, nor admit they should have, not at 100,000; not at 50,000; not at 30,000.
Don't worry - it'll see new highs in 20 or 50 years. At least as a holder you still get to attend those festive annual meetings, right?

    • The people I know that sold out at under $15,000 are a whole lot unhappier than the ones who didn't sell at $150,000.

It was only a couple of years ago that Buffett said that BRKA would certainly drop below $90,000 again. It hasn't yet, but sooner or later his prediction may come true. I don't think anyone sweats it all that much though.

Meanwhile, the vast majority of BRKA shares are being held at very low cost bases. Most BRKA shareholders have not been good at market timing the stock, but quite a few became wealthy just simply holding.
