Give me your best idea that ISNT BRK

"You do remember Apple almost went bust and was bailed out by Microsoft right?"

Microsoft did not bail out Apple. At the time Apple had billions in cash and no debt. If I remember correctly, at one point Apple was trading at $11(pre 2/1 split) and had over $7 per share in cash. The Microsoft investment was an advertising gimick and nothing else. Several Apple execs have confirmed this repeatedly.

I've said it many times before...if you make a post on this board about a stock, and it is completely ignored, chances are good you have found a winner.

    • My recollection like AD was that we(MSFT) lent Apple $150 million in order for their business to survive...Wasn't purely altruistic, more like discouraging the monopoly tag...Doubt they had 5 cents in the bank @ that time...

That said,a few years later with their feet on the floor,Appl began the crude anti-Gates TV commercials...Pitiful after he saved their butts/bacon...

MSFT has mucho problemos, but few have done more for investors or have given back to the community and to the world @large,IMO... When was the last time Apple gave anyone @ dime???And YES,we stay for the dividends if for no other reason...GLTA...

PS : I think Apple has great products, although overpriced. I remember spending nights at a friends work place just so I could play around with Power Macs with the PowerPC Chips and some Infini-D, Renderman, Macromedia Authorware and Lingo scripting in Macromedia Director. It was fun. But a good product does not mean a good investment.

      • **But a good product does not mean a good investment.**

Echos of when I first posted about Apple to this board

and proof positive of just how dense some folks are, when it comes to investing

        A $100,000 turned into $3,000,000

and a poster in complete denial, posts such dribble

This poster is correct only in the sense, that Microsoft never turned out a good product and at one time was a good investment

        I couldn't agree more.
