Aaaaammeeennnnn. Todd, IBM's up today in a down market. Why? Because the sale of the legacy x86 server business again shows that IBM is evolving rapidly, exiting moatless areas and stocking their moats with alligators. What was it that was declining? Equipment sales. What equipment? Much of it was x86 stuff where IBM has no long-term competitive advantage in making Windows servers out of Intel processors. Those businesses are a legacy of the missed opportunity in the PC-server arena of the 1980s and early 1990s, not where IBM's going. considering options.
morning jad, that's YYY buffett has to be so careful with respect to what he buys and what he promotes !! He's locked in and can't sell unless he drives the stock down to 160s which I doubt he would do. The hurdle to buy anything in SIZE over brk should be HUGE, obviously he couldn't have been more wrong. Without buffett buying, follow on,ers buying and buffett actively PROMOTING IBM the past two years, ibm would already be 160s based on the last 4, 1/4ly reports. THis is the time jokers can post I'm beetching about buying ibm over brk, yesterday, FOR THE FIRST TIME, UCMTSU, no way !! very sad, he can no longer hit a hanging curve ball, very sad.
