Is BRK/WEB going to scare politicians wo
Here's what I have been thinking...
Right
now BRK is worth about a hundred billion dollars,
give or take.
I can see it growing to five
hundren bil within, say, 15 years.
Now, that's
HUGE!!!
Here's a secretive company, worth about what the US
military budget is, managed by one or two enigmatic
geniuses, and which has little if any limitations that
other public companies do.
Is that not scary
outright?
Is that not scary that Warren Buffett is going to
leave a foundation, likely interesting in political
causes/improvement of humanity, worth far more than anything that
ever existed?
So, the question is, do you think
that as time passes, there will be some pressure to
brak up BRK? Is that good or bad news for us? Or am I
just paranoid?-
...why not!?

Washington don't mind concentrations of power if nobody
complains too loud...the Dept of Justice really didn't
start leaning on Gates until some 20 odd state
attorneys general started preparing suits sensing the
possibility of a big score a 'la the tobacco
settlement........some say a MSFT breakup would actually help a company
grown soft...break it into "baby Bills"..get some of
their old fire in the belly back...same thing could
happen to us if the company gets too big and ponderous
and Buffett dies...wouldn't be a bad thing IMO....... -
Only if Microsoft get that big is scary, as for WEB, neh... .I doubt Berkshire will be that big unless he invests oversea. Hopefully I will be wrong.
