More things in common than I had thought. I
Didn't know you had an interest in GBLX too... I've been
in since the Tisches first bought. I've been far
more active with this than is typical- Sold some right
after the split, picked some up when it got cheap at
the beginning of last month. Now I'm back to my old
ways and planning on holding for the long run.

Oh, Angry is on a business trip right now. So, I will
say hello to him for you.
Oops. Better chart for seeing stock action one-week before earnings today or
Looks like I got out of EMC at more like $52.50. I left a bunch on the table, but I
really don't have much trust in management.
As for trust in management, here's one for
you. Their earnings are out today or tomorrow. Think they are once again keeping their
reputation for f-ing shareholders and taking care of
I don't know what to tell you about EMC. The
quarter "looked" good, but I have been a bystander for a
while - out around $60 if memory serves. I actually
sold after the HWP deal. It wasn't based on the HWP
deal as much as it was what I heard in the voices of
company executive on the conference call that day. They
sounded scared, full of shit, and like they were trying
to sale me something.
The valuation does not
even come close to offering enough margin of safety to
compensate for holding a company that I don't trust will
tell me the bad news straight.
Speaking of crushed, have you seen EMC lately? I
would buy more but the PE is still 78. When I bought it
at $47 the PE was just wee higher than grasshopper
(hg). Actually, EMC has never had a PE any shorter than
your average NBA player.
I am not sure what is
going on with the stock. I think combination of profit
taking, buying on rumor but selling on news, the sudden
realization that you are paying $78 dollars for every dollar
earned, and background noise about the aquisition. If all
this is due to a whisper number, then the whisper
number people can drop dead. Whisper number people
should be shot, plain and simple ( and I am against
capital punishment). That should give you an indication
of how I feel about whisper numbers.
p.s. I am very disappionted about the tepid response
by the inquisiton commitee. Nothing worse than
throwing a tantrum and being ignored :(
