What you aren't seeing is how many of those positions are open because people left post the layoff. When you start seeing a lot of openings for manufacturing technicians then you will know that demand is up.
They did the layoffs when they miscalculated how fast demand would pick up and pulled guidance.
Depending on who you listen to on this board either demand is now picking up and they need to hire more people or people beyond the 500 are leaving and they have to replace them. In this economy, I do not expect to see people leaving a job, so I am going with the pick up in demand.
