WheelTug Announces Letter Of Intent With KLM
I've tried posting this five times and Yahoo says it's posted but it doesn't appear on the message board list so I'm trying it without the article.
A word for those unfamiliar with the term. A LOI (Letter Of Intent) is less than a PO (Purchase Order) or binding contract, more like a reservation A statement that I want to be in line for this and who ever comes later is after me.
It states KLM is the 'core' which I can't give you a specific definition of, I am assuming its the number in Wikipedia without any of the subsidiaries added.
According to Wikipedia
Wikipedia lists KLM as having 115 planes (28 on order) However while KLM markets separately KLM and Air France merged in 2004. Air France has 254 and growing fleet (11 planes on order.)
While the KLM LOI does not give numbers (Which makes me think it may be a smaller number than Wikipedia lists) we have a foot in the door to some big numbers here.
In the last August update they stated LOI were for just shy of 300 planes.
This LOI starts at half that total and with Air France is larger than all of the previous put together. (unless I missed an update on it.)
They were expecting a backlog to reach over 1000 at that time as well. This is a nice addition towards that number.
