Incyte Corporation Message Board

Foprgive the newbie questions, but I need help? I am looking for a biotech play, but I don't have time to follow the typical
bio techs - you know, following the clinical trials and getting spooked by the FDA. I thought this might be a biotech play that
is more conservative. I do tax planning and, therefore, am as far removed from life science as one can get. Can you help me to
understand INCY's competition? What make's INCY's database worth more than Human Genome's? How does AFFX play in to the equation? Are
people expecting some kind of convergence between the chip tech and the info tech? Is anyone compiling a "similar" database for
    agricultural genetic engineering?

    • I'm not a PHD either, but I have learned that Incyte's database is inclusive of the human genome projects findings, as this project is publicly funded and freely available. In the end, Incytes database is much larger than the human genome project; they also lack any really strong competitors in this area.
