Incyte Corporation Message Board

It's got to be something big. I've traked this
one since Alan Ableson wrote about it in Barron's Up
& Down Wall Street in Nov 94 (vary favorably and if
you follow Ableson you know he's not the sort to give
praise easily) . Yea it's volatile but I don't remember
ever seeing anything like this before. Has anyone
called their public relations dept to ask what the
scoop?

The Perkin-Elmer Corp., J. Craig Venter and The
Institute for Genomic Research on Saturday announced that
they have signed letters of intent for the formation
of a new genomics company by PKN and Venter. The
as-yet-unnamed company plans to substan-tially complete the
sequencing of the human genome in three years...
The
company also plans to build the expertise and informatics
tools necessary to extract biological knowledge from
the genomic data...
Indeed, the new genomics
company (Rockville, Md.) plans to make sequencing data
publicly available.
