Last night, I saw a T.V. commerical sponsored by Olive Garden advertisted their latest $ 25 special: two entrees and one appetizer (or dessert). Normally I would not pay too much attention to it because national chain restaurants always advertised on T.V. The only problem is I started seeing more and more national chain restaurants had adverstised specials and they include: TGI Friday, Outback Steakhouse, Logan, Red Lobster, Apple Bee's. With most of these specials, two people can see for around $20-30. The number of restaurant specials I saw lately were more than that in 2007.
we ate there last night (mid week) and there was no wait. Buisness seemed good for a weeknight. On weekends wait is out the door. Yes they all have specials but only applies to selected items which appeared to be not the highest normally priced items. We ordered other items and had wine but no dessert. Cost about $48 for the two of us
Thanks for the head up. According to an article published on Nov. 12, 2012:
"If you run a restaurant whose revenue model assumes a nonstop flow of free-spending young customers, get ready to make an adjustment. Results of a new survey from marketing information giant NPD Group show that your millennial customers—young adults ages 18 to 34—dine in restaurants approximately once a week less frequently than they did in 2007. "
With all the people eating out during 2008-2011 in my city, on school nights no less, you would never know we were in recession.
You can SAVE A LOT COOKING @ HOME .Plus I love left overs. I also like to drink @ home.
J, what does a drink cost @ a restaurant? Isn't that how they make their money?
