    • Waldo,
Although this is not the board in which to discuss soc. sec., i'll elaborate upon your request.
Would W's plan benefit me? Yes.
I have a (very) basic understanding of finance/investing and would be able to control the growth of my account. Add into that increased volume in a market i already have interest in, and things could look pretty good.
Would W's plan benefit Joe Schmoe? Therein lies the rub.
Those intimidated by, uneducated about, or careless planning finance are in trouble. And since, traditionally, republicans steer away from social programs (i.e. welfare), lots of people will be up sh-- creek.
Sooooo, where does that leave us? You are probably more educated on the subject, but i understand there is a Soc. Sec. fund that has been getting a lot of attention. Why not take these monies, invest it, and grow it so that we do not run out of funds years down the road? Kinda the same idea, except finance experts work the money instead of Joe Schmoe.
This is just my $.02. I am by no means an expert, or that informed on the issue. As a voting citizen, i get to sit back and play armchair quarterback. That's what is great about this country (:
I'm not picking a fight here Waldo, we probably agree on more things than disagree. Just responding to your post.

(Posters- Sorry this has turned into an episode of Crossfire.)

      Long and strong in Q!!

      Happy investing,
      Bucc

    • lol? Please bestow your wisdom upon us on how you would fix social insecurity???

    • lol!
      thnks for the explanation!
Bush's soc sec plan sure is good for us investors.

      happy investing,
      bucc

    • I didn't hear him today, but all I read is where he is really coming from more nuclear, and refineries. This guy is going to put this country on the wrong path before he is done. We may never recover from him and will be last in development of alternatives in the world. What ever will be left of this country when he turns it into a third world nation will have to remember we got there by what he did. He is going to push us harder and farther back in his last years in office. He is the worst we had leading this country since Jimmy Carter. IMO

      • Prez looked at two kids in audience and said he was determined for them to take their driver's test in a hydrogen fuel cell car. To generate the enery needed for the masses, he said we must use develop technology to make caol far more cleaner, use nukes, and transport this new tech to the developing world..ie China, India, etc. Let's remember, no one has pushed this tech before, NO ONE. The Army has the vehicles, CA has the vehicles, the Japs want to look at the vehicles. Hydro is the future. Stock was at 7.5, now at 3.7 looks attractive to me.

    • Just more lip service from the chimp. Now see what is happening after his speach is over since all he keeps talking about is more refineries, tearing up Alaska, etc. We are the greatest technolically advanced country, yet we are lagging in alternative/renewable fuels. Nothing's gonna change until Bush is gone.
