What is going on with TV Essentials? I was talking to a friend of mine who works as a media planner at a big media buying firm on Madison Avenue and she said she's never heard of Rentrak. She says there are only three companies out there selling their wares and she said its Nielsen Media Research, TNS and Erinmedia.
How is Rentrak different? Do they own patents? I searched on Google patents and found only patent 5396417 issued in March of 2005, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with television. Nielsen Media Research has literally, hundreds of patents. If you search Taylor Nelson Sofres you get zip. Erinmedia has four patents but they all appear to be about cable box data and television.
I've listened to the presentation. I am concerned that there is nothing there. Paul said that their TVEssentials business was going to grow from nothing to $250-$400M a year in revenue. How are they going to do that? Do they have patents that are going to allow it to prevent Nielsen, TNS and Erin Media from providing a product? Do they special relationships with the cable operators and satellite guys who will only give them data? I just don't get it. And I really don't understand why those who know more about this business didn't call them on it in the conference call. Any insight would be appreciated.
U have point, Green Products. Seems like TVE is all talk, no walk. Would like to hear from management team on this, instead of some analyst or cheerleader. If you’ve got a good story, why not step up and tell it, guys? When u let others talk for u or beat around bush, seems like u're not being up front.
