I do not have a position in CPRT but would considering wading in on weakness. I don't work in the auto salvage business but I can't find another company that has a business model like CPRT. At least not one of any size. It seems like it might be hard to break into this business because I suspect planning and zoning for salvage operations is a pretty high hurdle to clear in many communities. The balance sheet looks good but rev & earn growth has been a little weak of late. My main concerns in the near and intermediate terms would be curreny risks on exported vehicles and some of the insiders have been selling. Nice business though. You guys know of any real competitors public or private?
Good post ibflat2. Thanks for your inside the industry info. Maybe this ailing market will create a better entry point for buying CPRT shares. They should be coming out with earnings before to long and that may create an opportunity to buy in on weakness. Thanks and good luck.
