    Copart and tight credit

I do not have a position in CPRT but would considering wading in on weakness. I don't work in the auto salvage business but I can't find another company that has a business model like CPRT. At least not one of any size. It seems like it might be hard to break into this business because I suspect planning and zoning for salvage operations is a pretty high hurdle to clear in many communities. The balance sheet looks good but rev & earn growth has been a little weak of late. My main concerns in the near and intermediate terms would be curreny risks on exported vehicles and some of the insiders have been selling. Nice business though. You guys know of any real competitors public or private?

    • Well Coparts does have several competitors in the industry, but they are one of the largest...

IAAI (Insurance Auto Auctions Inc) is another one who is out there. There are some more regional operations also.. Sadisco and Source One come to mind locally here.

I know that Coparts just opened up a new yard just south of Montgomery Alabama.

As to me, well I work for a towing company who does tow for both IAAI and Coparts, (I do only heavy duty towing) so I do not get there often..
