HepC is a silent disease and alot of the people have choosen to keep their head in the sand. I for one have genotype 1 and will be retreating at the beginning of the new year. I made the decision to wait until then for insurance reasons so all of my deductible payments fall under the same deductible period(saves me money). The story of Incivek will eventually getout to all of those genotype 1 patients and most will decide to treat once the time is right for them. The drug works now, and for most of us waiting for something that eliminates interferon in the treatment,of which there is no guarantee it will happen, is simply gambling. The treatment is not easy and many individuals have numerous things in their lives to juggle first before deciding to treat.
You are on the doorstep of a major event that you will NOT regret. I too had some life events that caused postponement of treatment for 2 months. It has been a great relief to see that a treatment for us Gen1 patients works NOW! It was not easy (tired feeling, mild cold type symptoms) and thankfully no rash. But today Undetectable SVR after 12wk. treatment and 4wk. after isn't that what we all are looking for? The more I think about MY situation the stock is a minor part in a new outlook on my medical future. Enough of the soapbox for tonight. God Bless, And Good Luck
