Help w/ ? please: How do FDA and DRs handle meds which benefit subpopulation

Whoops! I think it is illegal for pharmaceutical companies to promote any kind of off-label use for their prescription products. I recall reading about some serious repercussions when some big pharma drug reps were caught doing this in the past. My mistake. However, it is completely acceptable for docs to prescribe off-label as they please.

    • You are correct about restrictions on the promotion of off-lable uses by pharma. For the CF community, however, little or no promotion would be needed. Any information from peer-reviewed studies will be further distributed by the CF foundation. Even indirect off-label recommendations by this organization might be tricky, however, since the CF foundation also profits from Vertex CF drug sales.
