There is a really good book on the biotech industry in general, and Vertex in particular, called "The Billion Dollar Molecule" by Barry Werth. It should be available at any bookstore. It would make an excellent read over the holidays for anyone truly interested in the "business of science". It could also go a long way to help decide if the biotech industry is worth the investment risk.
The author doesn't go there. He tells an excellent (true) story that clears alot of cobwebs and allows the reader to draw his/her own inferences. In general, the impression I got was "don't hold your breath", but the biotech industry is recession-proof if nothing else.
